Copy and Paste - me, never...

Look man, I am just sooo way ahead of the times. Remember the credit crisis, that threat of doom and gloom that was going to end the world. Well, I still reckon it is going to happen, but for now, here is a reminder on the quite comical financial situation of a year ago, and who would have thought that the new politics would look so...samey...

Caution Wet Paint: The (Milky) Credit Crisis
Uploaded by cautionwetpaint. - News videos from around the world.

Oh, and yes, I should be off to Strasbourg to join in the premiere of our short film - Jay and Kay Save the World in August. There is a good reason why at 3am I am blogging. What I do for Jay and Kay, they will never know...

Storyboarding...

Ah, the storyboards. Sometimes I draw them (stick men, at best) but often I will photograph the actors/actresses in a dress rehearsal. It is surprising how close to reality these boards are. They are also ludicrously fun sessions when you can really muck about during rehearsals and flesh out the story itself.

Most of the storyboards I did for Save the World were from the fight scene between Jay & Kay and the milk bottles. This was practical. To put it simply, this was going to be the difficult scene, an action scene, and so the planning needed to be good. Also mixing animation and live action into the same scene was going to be tough and I needed to know exactly where the actors were going to be before I shot the animation sequences.

The only was way to do this was during a photographic storyboard so I knew where the actors were going to be in relation of the rest of the set.

Enjoy, the logistical nightmare that is the shooing of 'Caution Wet Paint!'

Goldtop takes over the World!

It is quite simple. Goldtop is evil...

El Director's Milk Preferences

I like milk. I've made that quite clear during the whole run of CVWP. I drink the stuff on an almost daily basis. Last week, by a freak of supermarket sweeping, I inadvertently bought full fat milk instead of the usual supply of skimmed and semi-skimmed. While my tea tasted decidedly more 'Indian' as a result of the richness of the milk in it, the real treat was just drinking the milk pai9n. Normally after work, there is nothing i like better than a glass and a half of milk (not a famous milk chocolate brand's worth) before hitting the sack.

This week I am backed to the skimmed/semi-skimmed variety. While my tea has gone back to normal, I simply find that drinking this watered down milk and abomination on my palette. Sigh...

Milk! From Outer Space!

I really liked doing this, both as a short film and as a comic strip.

Originally, Nick came to me and asked me to shoot Jay and Kay in the back garden, just chatting, and most importantly, having the milk bottle 'disappear. He then told me to 'trust him'. So I did. A few weeks later, he brought me the animation sequence and so was born the two alter egos of Silvertop and Goldtop.

The reason why I have enjoyed this webisode so much is that the story is continued in the latest incarnation of Caution Wet paint, Jay and Kay Save the World! Yep, give me a chance, and I will string a story out far beyond the stars...into the realms of madness!

Time to get Silly

Wait, wait, wait a minute! I (El D.) have been far too serious these past few weeks. So in order to rectify this, and just like CNN, Al Jazeera and every other news organisation, I have decided to launch the Caution Wet Paint News Service. Here we will have perfectly manicured hosts (and all of them are fine!), reporting from the war zones of this world bringing you live, 24 hours a day, 6 and a half days a week, all the latest breaking news...

---

Okay, maybe we are not as good as the major news organisations...after all, they do fantastic documentaries (which is why I mentioned CNN and AL Jazeera as they are tops for this). The one good thing on TV are the documentaries from the news channels. Not quite the news, repetitive and boring, but an insight into the world we live in. Fascinating stuff. But think about it, if I could have my own newsflash, just for a few seconds, what would be there?

---

BREAKING NEWS: Alien Milk Bottles invade Earth. Today at 13.46 local time, Two Milk Bottles have injured a London Postman. Details are still coming in, but it seems these Bottles are attempting to Enslave Humanity. We will have more on this story as it develops.

It's probably best that I stick to making films...

Frame by Frame (1a)

In response to yesterday's fantastic vlog from El M, I will reveal the secrets and more importantly the backache involved with stop motion animation...but for now, it is back to killing Silvertop...

I'm in the mood for KILL

For such a piece of comic genius it is surprising that we have a character like Captain Goldtop.

Now, the whole concept of Goldtop was from El M. And what a concept. Talking milk bottles, invasion from outer space. Who ever thought that two simple guys at a bus stop would become something a bit more sinister. Keep watching...

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Milk!

How else can two grown men settle their differences? Kung Fu, betting? Nay, the simple past time of Rock Paper Scissors, can end wars, defuse conflict and dissolve deadlocks. An unbeliever?

CWP: The Milk Crisis...

One a big thank you to all that that took the time to click and view our contribution to VlogsUp. We hit the ton, which is great and is only thanks to your support!

(El Director speaks, California style, high on Coke)

So yeah man, yeah, I had this idea, it was like, yeah, an epiphany, an instant in my own life where I saw beyond the zone and into the next level. Just, how can you combine Kung Fu and the Credit Crisis. That, is where the cash is to be made. And this idea, like, it is just genius.

(Sniffs)

Hey man, what do we take when the cash runs dry?

The Ingredients of Caution Wet Paint 1: Milk!

We have Jay. We have Kay. But these two great guys are just part of the blend that makes Caution Wet Paint what it is. But there is something a little more to add to the spice. Something that makes us tingle with irrefutable joy! That one thing, is MILK!

But we are not just talking about simple bottles of milk, sitting there, quietly minding their own business. We are talking about gallons of the stuff giving us joy and wonder to behold! For us, milk is more than a drink. It is a companion, a bond between brothers and of course, a couple of aliens from Outer Space.

(Take the hint, click on the links above and watch the vids. Or we will KILL you)

Ahem. But for us at CWP, the most significant episode of milky joy happens to come from a little webisode involving pizza:

Enjoy!

Why Milk is Bad for You

It rots really quickly, as humans are the only mammal that drinks milk into adulthood, we are going against the natural order of our bodies and nothing with that kind of emulsion like texture can be good for you.

Plus it comes from outer space.

(Disclaimer: Please note that pasteurised milk rots a lot less quickly and like many fresh foods, rotting can be utilised to make a variety of foodstuffs such a yogurt, butter and cheese. And many useful foodstuffs are partially rotted in order to give it that wholesome flavour. Beer (rotted hops), Wine (rotted grapes), K Fried Chicken (Rotten full stop). The fact that many members of the human race can digest milk is probably due to a selective advantage to avoid famine. The notion that milk comes from Outer Space is an utterly ridiculous concept unless you are a cow that is part of the British Contingent to the ISS)

Why Milk is good for you?

It counts towards your daily intake of fluids, it is filled with calcium and it tastes great!

(Disclaimer: This is no way an advert for milk or any other type of branded milk product. Drinking milk may be unsuitable for people with dairy allergies or who are lactose intolerant. Jay and Kay's copious consumption of milk is a piece of fiction and in no way reflects the reality of the needs of the actors who portray those roles. Studies have shown that drinking milk can be harmful as well as beneficial, but nothing conclusive has been stated yet and so the milk consuming sections of society will have to make up their minds on this one. The delicious taste of milk is purely subjective speculation and does not accurately reflect the views or opinions of Babarouge Ltd. or any of its minions. El Director purely observed the back of a packet of tea and was inspired to plagiarise it in order to write a new blog for today)

A Talking Milk Bottle?

DIST: What the hell are you thinking of you drunkard? A bloody milk bottle? Singing, on the screen!

El D: Look, I can explain-

DIST: The hell you can! Just look at those ratings plummet! You want to know why? You're putting out crap!

El D: I know, it's not that great, but it's my first time at stop motion-

DIST: And pack your bags budd, it's your last time too! What possessed to to create a singing milk bottle?

El D: Well, we always use milk in 'Caution Wet Paint' and I just wanted to expand the idea a bit more.

A silence reigns through the room as Distributor and El Director face each other off.

DIST: So you're telling me that you wanted to expand your f**king mind by placing a singing milk bottle on top of a garden shed.

El D: Yes, I agree, you got a point, I should have been doing this at sixteen, but instead I was trying to be cool by drinking my face off and wasting my childhod and so I am now wasting my adulthood on childish matters.

DIST: You ain't taking me down with you. You're fired. I have had enough of this crap. I need episodes not childish whims.!

El D: But, Caution Wet Paint is childish, that's the whole point of it!

DIST: Bye now!

The door slams and El Director looks around him. He is free, but what will he do with his new found freedom?
