The Baba Speaks!

Lovely bits of madness are caressing the ridges in my brain. From here to there, flirty to mirthy (they are real words - damn you firefox for correcting me!), the inner reaches of my wonderous imagination leave me to feel many things in the epoch of the tet-a-tet known as semi-skimmed proof.

Oh lo and behold the bounty and fruit of my labour, a hard sweat amongst the torrid tide which I strive to overcome but can see not one but many loopholes to that which they call creativity. How some may be stupid in their thoughts, but forgive them, for they are stubborn in what they wish to perceive as their own righteousness.

And yet they continue to defile me and my sacred land, where only the pixies dance with honey covered nuts and sugar. Such is the delicious diabetic tale of my own wanderings on this Earth, all a measure of the futility to escape from what was once called reality but is now so aptly known as life. And vivre too!

And so the water scalded my hand and my palm recovered from its burn marks. The mercury levels of fish are thankfully low and so the population of my wonderful homeland exists only as an experimentation on the future of humanity. Country music flirts through my mind and the warm caress of Chow Mein and Tofu only serve to remind me of a happier time when blood pumped through my veins and flowed gently through my arteries - a contradiction of human biology was the miracle known as my own body.

And so I leave you with these thoughts, the random mumblings on my own synapses, only to wish you a wonderful respite from what they call struggle but to remind you that a life of Zig Zags eventually proves itself to be far more rewarding than the organisation of your own bank balance as for one day, we all must participate in the struggle, there is only one quote, which I wil now 'borrow' as my own.

Just keep on playing!

Keep smiling

Okay, maybe writing a blog at 3am will not do me any good, but it has to b done. Just finished an article for OhmyNews. Normally, I spend about an hour or so on the article, but I am currently doing a 'series' which actually requires me to take the damn thing seriously. Sometimes I think I am nuts with my commitments to myself, but it was something that has been burning inside of me for a while and it is an attempt to link video and analysis into one.

Need sleep, and milk...

Just a quickie

El Director is busily editing away today - that documentary is going to take some serious time out of me. So just for fun, I did some googling on the net.

Basically, it is kind of a show. Type in your name (in this case, Caution Wet Paint) and another word, so creating a phrase, for example:

caution wet paint dies

And see what the top result is. That brilliant piece of procrastination can be found here.

Of course, I wish I had come up with such a brilliant idea for procrastinating, but it is a video reply to bobblog89.

(That fantastic piece of music in the video, will be 'utilised' by next week).

El Director asks the Questions!

As part of the Prime Minister's request to ask him 'anything', I decided to ask him a very simple one. Why does the British Government still support the Uk's arms industry.

Now, I of course do not expect an answer as my question will not sit comfortably with the media spin that is meant to be associated wh this first in UK politics.

However, as a first in UK politics, I also wrote an article on the matter and got published. SO now you can also read about our PM's initiative:

Article

Mr. Brown, you have asked and we have gven you the questions. We hope you are listening...

A Talking Milk Bottle?

DIST: What the hell are you thinking of you drunkard? A bloody milk bottle? Singing, on the screen!

El D: Look, I can explain-

DIST: The hell you can! Just look at those ratings plummet! You want to know why? You're putting out crap!

El D: I know, it's not that great, but it's my first time at stop motion-

DIST: And pack your bags budd, it's your last time too! What possessed to to create a singing milk bottle?

El D: Well, we always use milk in 'Caution Wet Paint' and I just wanted to expand the idea a bit more.

A silence reigns through the room as Distributor and El Director face each other off.

DIST: So you're telling me that you wanted to expand your f**king mind by placing a singing milk bottle on top of a garden shed.

El D: Yes, I agree, you got a point, I should have been doing this at sixteen, but instead I was trying to be cool by drinking my face off and wasting my childhod and so I am now wasting my adulthood on childish matters.

DIST: You ain't taking me down with you. You're fired. I have had enough of this crap. I need episodes not childish whims.!

El D: But, Caution Wet Paint is childish, that's the whole point of it!

DIST: Bye now!

The door slams and El Director looks around him. He is free, but what will he do with his new found freedom?

Music to "the Gift" Pt.3

For those of you who have managed to stay awake during the last two installments, here is the final scintillating part of my documentary on "the Gift"...

Its a very brief overview of the recording, sequencing and mixing process. Sorry if its a bit garbled, I had a lot to try and fit in!

I'm afraid my work on this will have to be put on hold for a few days as I have a recording coming up with my "real" jazz ensemble, but hopefully we'll have a finished movie for you in a week or so...

PS. The VST synth you see in the video is WIVI, produced by Wallander Instruments and comes with el Maestro's recommendations. The woodwind and brass modules are v. expressive with lots of scope for nuance.

The Film Makers

Being a film maker in today's world presents a really tricky scenario. There is the traditional route of going to film school, learning on digital, shooting a couple of HD shorts to get into minor festivals before shooting a magnificent short film on 35mm as a calling card.

And then there is the Babarouge way of making films. Shoot off the hip, fluke and pray our way into festivals and then look agonisingly at the mountain there is to climb...

Quite clearly the sensible way of making films would be the former. But, as a bunch of Londoners, with not even a score to spare, traditional film making presents an impossible challenge.

Thank goodness for the internet - watch how the playing field gets levelled by us...wahaha!

A Journey Into the Mind of el Maestro...

Word up! I will be posting a series of short movies over then next week, chronicling my adventures whilst building the soundtrack to the next CWP episode, “The Gift”. I’ll share the creative process with you in a blow by blow account of what its like to write original music to a deadline, (without revealing too much of the plot of course). Yes, I’m as apprehensive as you are, because I haven’t seen the footage yet, so I’ve no idea what I’m going to do… (That is, providing El Director can finish the edit soon as I have a tough recording session to get ready for next week...) }:

British Film Magazine

Hey Peeps!

I just wanted to mention that prior to our visit to Cannes and the Cannes Film Market, we appeared in a few press publications; in particular, the British Film Magazine did a fantastic article on our film 'Caution, Wet Paint'. It examines the film's independent roots, in terms of being completely self-funded and made with a budget of under a hundred pounds and its use of digital technology and the internet!

http://britishfilmmagazine.com/articles/caution-wet-paint-bold-plans.html

Enjoy the milky fun...and big kudos to all the cast and crew involved in making 'Caution, Wet Paint' !
